Die deutschen Grünen bemühen sich, ihre nicht ganz freiwillige Rolle als Oppositionskraft nun auch inhaltlich auszufüllen. Ein Thesenpapier der beiden Parteichefs Reinhard Bütikofer und Claudia Roth soll die Partei bei zahlreichen Regionalkonferenzen und bei einem Abschlusskongress in Berlin debattieren. Wir dokumentieren hier die Gedanken des Papiers zu den Schicksalsfragen der Europäischen Union und bitten um Kommentare. Wirft die Grüne Parteiführung diese Fragen nur als Pflichtübung in die Runde, oder ist dies eine geeignete Chance, Europa auch in der deutschen innenpolitischen Debatte als Thema zu verankern? Und wie könnten die anderen Parteien dazu gebracht werden, sich ebenfalls an dieser Debatte zu beteiligen?

Zukunft Europas

Trotz aller Verdienste der Vereinten Nationen und trotz aller Fortschritte in der Europäischen Union hat die öffentliche Auseinandersetzung um die Ausrichtung dieser Institutionen kaum begonnen. Selbst der ins Stocken geratene europäische Verfassungsprozess hat im öffentlichen Raum der Bundesrepublik so gut wie keinen Niederschlag gefunden. Wo war die Debatte um das politische Europa? Wo eine engagierte Kontroverse über das Verhältnis von Nationalstaaten und Union oder über die künftigen Grenzen der EU, die über das Pro und Contra zu einem Beitritt der Türkei hinausging? Wo die Debatte um europäischen Sozialraum und europäische Steuerpolitik vor dem Hintergrund der ökonomischen Verfllechtung? Wir Grüne müssen diese Lücken füllen.  Weiter lesen…

The European Commission is set to float the idea of an EU press agency and code of conduct for the bloc’s institutions and journalists, aimed at boosting communication channels to and from citizens. The suggestions are part of the consultation initiative dubbed the white paper on communication to be unveiled on Wednesday (1 February). The EU executive views the initiative as part of the reflection period announced after the rejection of the bloc’s new constitution by the French and Dutch citizens.
